Description
English: A digitally retouched photograph of golfer Edith Cummings published in Vogue magazine in December 1923. The caption reads: "Miss Edith Cummings of Chicago, by defeating Miss Alexa Stirling in the Women's Westchester Biltmore Tournament become the national champion." Cummings would later serve as the inspiration for the character of Jordan Baker in F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel The Great Gatsby. As this photo was published in 1923 and the copyright for all photographs published in magazines that year has expired, this photo is in the public domain.
