Summary
| Description | Photo of Ed Gardner as Archie from the radio program Duffy's Tavern and Ransom Sherman, host of the radio program Nit Wit Court. As in television, radio programs took a summer hiatus, but instead of repeating previous episodes, the shows were replaced by others for the summer period. Early television also followed this pattern with summer replacement shows instead of rebroadcasts. Sherman was to be the host of the radio program that would temporarily replace Duffy's Tavern for the summer. |
| Date | Date stamp is incomplete. This is circa 1942 to 1944. When NBC was hit with the antitrust charges re: having two networks, it formally divided itself into two divisions-the Red Network and the Blue Network in 1942. The network was forced to divest itself of its Blue Network in 1945--this became ABC-American Broadcasting Company. Duffy's Tavern moved to what was then the Red Network before the sale of the Blue Network in 1945, thus remaining with NBC. |
