English: Haig as a Hussar, Britain, 1885. A studio portrait of Douglas Haig as a young man of 23, in uniform after he had joined the 7th (Queen's Own) Hussars in February 1885. After attending Oxford University, he had undertaken his basic military training at the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst in 1884
