English: Initiation ceremony of a Bentvueghel in Rome.

With a rhyme at the bottom about the initiation:
De Roomsche Schilderbent, de Waareld door vermaart
Is hier op hare wys, zoo plegtelyk vergaart
Een Neerlants groentje, door den Switzer ingelaaten
Staat heel verzet door 't zien, van zulke vreemde staaten
En persoonagen, soo drollig toegerust
Men vraagt hem wie hy is : wat neyging of wat lust
Dat hem bewoogen heeft
Deez vreemdigheyt te aanschouwen
Of hy te Roomen komt om wyn of ligte vrouwen
Of om het schildren te leeren, deeze kwant;
(Zegt sinjoor yveraar heeft oordeel noch verstant
Men stuur hem vry weer om) de veltpaap uit zyn zeetel
Gereezen, noemt het stout, en waanwys en vermeetel.
Maar als hij beeterschap belooft, en needrig is
Wort hij verwellekomt, met eerschooten aan den dis.
