Deutsch: Die spezifischen Attribute dieser Büste, nämlich der für Dichter typische kurze Bart und die nachdenkliche Haltung lassen darauf schließen, dass es sich bei dem Werk um ein Porträt des Dichters Diphilus handelt, der in Sinope geboren wurde. Diphilius lebte zwischen der Mitte des 4. und dem Beginn des 3. Jahrhunderts v. Chr.. Aus dieser Zeit stammt ein Bronzeporträt von Diphilius, das den Werken des Bildhauers Scopas (um 375 - 330 v. Chr.) zugeordnet wird. Bei diesem Exponat handelt es sich um eine römische Kopie aus der frühen Kaiserzeit. Ausgestellt im Museo Nazionale Rom (Inv. 299)
English: The specific attributes of this bust, namely the short beard typical of poets and the the specific attributes of this bust, namely the short beard typical of poets and the thoughtful demeanor, suggest that the work is a portrait of the poet Diphilus, who was born in Sinope. Diphilius lived between the middle of the 4th and the beginning of the 3rd century B.C. A bronze portrait of Diphilius comes from this period and is assigned to the works of the sculptor Scopas (around 375 - 330 B.C). This exhibit is a Roman copy from the early imperial era. Exhibited in the Museo Nazionale Rome (Inv. 299)
