Description
Deutsch: 1569 präsentierte Gerhard Mercator seine Weltkarte zum ersten Mal der Öffentlichkeit. Die 1 Meter 34 mal 2 Meter 12 Meter große Karte bekam den Titelzusatz: „zum seemännischen Gebrauch“. Später wurde sie in 20 Einzelblätter aufgeteilt und in einem Buch veröffentlicht. Von den Kapitänen der Welt sehnlichst erwartet.
English: In 1569, Gerhard Mercator presented his world map to the public for the first time. The 1 meter 34 by 2 meter 12 meter card was given the title addition: "for marine use". It was later divided into 20 single sheets and published in a book. Long awaited by the captains of the world.
