Deakin University caption: "Professor Walter Murdoch and family on the front steps of Arilpa." His wife was Violet Catherine Hughston. The girl depicted centre right is Catherine Helen Murdoch, later Dr Catherine King MBE (1904–2000) and the boy (lower right) is William (Will) Murdoch (1900–1950). Taken at Point Lonsdale, Victoria, in 1910.

[Deakin University catalogue description.] "Cataloguer assigned title. Forms part of: Alfred Deakin Prime Ministerial Library collection. Digitized images. Photographed at: Deakin University, Geelong; in the late 1990s. Colour TIFF images at 300 dpi. The image forms part of the Brookes family album. The album spans the latter part of Alfred Deakin's life, circa 1910-1920. Walter Murdoch was Alfred Deakin's first biographer. The photograph album forms Series 2 of MS0001."
