David Albahari, 1948 im serbischen Pec in Jugoslawien geboren, studierte englische Literatur und Sprache an der Universität von Belgrad. Seine Werke wurden u.a. ins Französische, Griechische, Polnische, Ungarische, Russische und Italienische übersetzt. 2006 bekamen er und seine Übersetzer für ihr Werk den Preis Brücke Berlin verliehen.. Der Schriftsteller David Albahari arbeitet auch als erfolgreicher Übersetzer von amerikanischen, britischen und australischen Autoren, wie Nabokov (Pale Fire), V.S. Naipau (In a Free State), John Updike (Too Far To Go), Sam Shepard (Fool For Love) und Saul Bellow (Him With His Foot In His Mouth). Seit 1994 lebt David Albahari in Calgary, Kanada.
