Summary

Soldiers of I Corps’ 5th Battalion, 3rd Field Artillery Regiment, w:17th Field Artillery Brigade (7 Oct 2021) receive initial training on handling the prototype rounds of the Army's w:Long-range hypersonic weapon (LRHW) at w:Joint Base Lewis McChord. By FY2023 the soldiers will have undergone training in handling, transporting, deploying, and launching this strategic conventional munition, which has a range over 1725 miles. The artillery battery will play a role in defining doctrine, tactics, techniques and procedures for the LRHW.
