Object history
Deutsch: Die neue Gemeinde Werbach wurde durch stufenweise Vereinigung von sechs Orten am 31. Dezember 1973 bzw. 1. Januar 1975 gebildet. Vier Ortsteile weisen enge historische Beziehungen zu Kurmainz auf und werden deshalb im Gemeindewappen vom Mainzer Rad repräsentiert, das bereits in einigen Vorgänger-Wappen achtspeichig dargestellt war. Mit Rücksicht auf den blauen Grund der unteren Hälfte des gräflich wertheimischen Wappens, das auf die frühere territoriale Zugehörigkeit der beiden restlichen Ortsteile hinweist, mussten die Farben des Mainzer Wappens gegeneinander ausgetauscht werden. Die heraldischen Farbregeln lassen das Aneinanderstoßen eines roten und eines blauen Schildfeldes nicht zu. Das Wappen und die Flagge wurden vom Landratsamt am 4. Mai 1979 verliehen.
