Object history
Deutsch: Schon das erste, in Abdrücken seit 1435 belegte Siegel der Stadt enthält den gekrönten Anfangsbuchstaben des Stadtnamens. Ein in Abdrücken von 1593 an erscheinendes Siegelbild zeigt diese Figur von zwei Löwen gehalten über den Symbolen der Sonne, des Mondes und des Planeten Merkur. Am 7. November 1949 wurde das ältere Bild unter Mitverwendung der hohenloheschen Hausfarben Silber und Rot von der württemberg-badischen Landesregierung als Stadtwappen verliehen. Die Verleihung der in den Farben vom Wappen abweichenden, von der Stadt jedoch aus Traditionsgründen gewünschten Farben nahm das Innenministerium am 31. Mai 1968 vor.
