Object history
Deutsch: Das älteste bekannte, im Abdruck für 1312 belegte Stadtsiegel lässt über einem Adler den Helm und die aus zwei Hifthörnern gebildete Helmzier der Herren von Neuffen erkennen. Spätere Wappendarstellungen wiesen durchweg drei Hifthörner — das Schildbild dieses Adelsgeschlechtes - auf. Abweichend vom Familienwappen ist das Stadtwappen in den seit 1535 überlieferten farbigen Darstellungen in den Farben Schwarz und Gold tingiert. Dies sind die Farben der Herrschaft Württemberg, die Neuffen 1301 an sich gebracht hat. Das Innenministerium verlieh die Flagge am 22. November 1966.
