Deutsch: Schon im ältesten bekannten Siegel der früheren Stadt Neudenau, das für das Jahr 1542 belegt ist, erscheint das Mainzer Rad als Hinweis auf die Zugehörigkeit zum Erzstift Mainz (1364-1802). Zur Unterscheidung zeigt das Neudenauer Wappen, das sich aus dem Herrschaftswappen entwickelt hatte, ein achtspeichiges Rad statt des üblichen sechsspeichigen Mainzer Rades. Diese städtische Siegel- und Wappentradition war nur zur Zeit der Herrschaft der Fürsten von Leiningen von 1803-1806 unterbrochen, als das Stadtsiegel von Neudenau die drei leiningenschen Adler zeigte. Die aus der Vereinigung der alten, gleichnamigen Stadt mit zwei anderen Gemeinden am 1. Januar 1975 gebildete neue Stadt nahm das Wappen mit dem achtspeichigen Rad im Jahre 1978 wieder auf. Die Verleihung erfolgte, zusammen mit der Flagge, am 16. August 1978 durch das Landratsamt Heilbronn. |
