Object history
Deutsch: Die Weißdornzweige stehen redend für den Ortsnamen. Der Weißdorn wird in der Gegend auch Mehlbaum genannt. Der Nadelbaum und die beiden Hacken weisen auf die waldreiche Umgebung im Fichtelgebirge und auf die Entstehung des Ortes durch Rodung hin. Der springende Hirsch ist in geminderter Form dem Wappen der Herren von Hirschberg entnommen, einem oberpfälzischen Adelsgeschlecht, und erinnert an deren Lehenbesitz im Gemeindegebiet seit dem 15. Jahrhundert.
