Object history
Deutsch: In Kalenborn entspringt der Swistbach. Dieser hat seinen Namen von den alten keltischen Wassergottheiten, die meist in der Dreizahl vorkommen. Die Römer nannten sie „matronae“ und haben ihnen im alten Swistgau zahlreiche Denksteine gesetzt. Meistens stellen sie die Drei-Schwestergottheiten, im Besonderen Göttinnen der Fruchtbarkeit, des Gebens. Im Allgemeinen haben sie an jedem Ort andere Namen, die auch zum Namen des Ortes oder der Landschaft beitrugen.

An der Swist sollen noch heute zahlreiche Verehrungsstätten der Swistgöttinnen zu finden sein. In der Kalenborner Gegend ist allerdings bis heute keine Kultstätte entdeckt worden. Es ist aber anzunehmen, dass die Kelten gerade an der Quelle des Swistbaches einige Verehrungsstätten hatten und es schon früher hier menschliche Siedlungen gab.

Einige sonderbare Erderhöhungen (kleiner Wall auf dem Holmich, Graben und Wall unweit des Vischeler Kirchweges) erinnern an keltische Niederlassungen. Meist waren diese Wälle Fliehburgen, wohin sich die Kelten nur in Zeiten der Gefahr zurückzogen. Eigentlich müssten in der Nähe der Wälle auch die Begräbnisplätze sein. Es konnten  jedoch noch keine entdeckt werden.
