A screenshot of Courteney Cox in the promotional trailer for the film November (2004). Image copyright for the film is owned by InDiGent and Sony Pictures Classics.

Rationale of fair use for November (2004 film)[edit]

The image Image:Courteney Cox in November.jpg is being linked here; though the picture is originally copyright, I (Extraordinary Machine 01:02, 27 October 2005 (UTC)) feel it is covered by fair use because:

  1. The image is a screenshot from a promotional film trailer originally created by Sony Pictures Classics, and intended for wide distribution.
  2. The screenshot is of lower resolution than the original film (copies made from it will be of inferior quality).
  3. No free or public domain images have been located for this film.
  4. The screenshot does not limit the copyright owners' rights to distribute the film in any way.
  5. The screenshot is intended to suggest something of the film's visual style. Its inclusion in the article is important because it accompanies information about the film's cinematography – specifically, its use of colour casts – that is included in the article.
  6. The screenshot is being used for informational purposes only, and its use is not believed to detract from the original film in any way.
