English: Conrad Noel, Prophet and Priest Bronze sculpture by Gertrude Hermes (1901-1983) of Conrad Noel 1869-1942, Vicar of Thaxted 1910-1942, in St.John the Baptist's Church.

The 'Red Vicar of Thaxted' was a famous pioneer of Christian Socialism and fervent Anglo Catholic http://www.anglocatholicsocialism.org/noel.html His body rests in the churchyard near to the high altar and his epitaph states

"He loved justice and hated oppression"
