Context

A painting depicting the Conquest of Malacca. The painting is not contemporary - it was made 3 or 4 centuries after the fall of Malacca. The artist doesn't seem to be familiar with Malacca and Malay culture of the time, the Malaccan warrior is depicted as like Turks or Indians. The mosque is anachronistic, the adoption of dome, minarets, and solid structure happened after 19th century. Before 19th century Nusantaran mosques are made primarily by wood and has stepped roof.

Licensing
