English: The charming, purely decorative Lancaster Lighthouse at the northwest corner of Como Lake Park in Lancaster, New York, as seen in June 2021. Situated on a pair of islands in a "lake" formed by a widening of Cayuga Creek and named after the famous Italian mountain resort, Como Lake Park was established in 1923 by the village of Lancaster and transferred three years later to the jurisdiction of Erie County to serve as one of the first four county parks. Gradually expanded to its present size of 534 acres, the park saw extensive improvements to its facilities and amenities under the auspices of the Works Progress Administration, including this lighthouse which was erected in 1933. The park once contained a 220-foot toboggan run and a small zoo, and still does contain a nature trails, 62 picnic shelters, a disc golf course, and extensive boating facilities.
