English: Community self-governance aims at supporting local communities ad local governements to build capacity in mobilizing internal and external ressources; support development of self-organization and selfself-governance; to incease communities' potential for the realization of their own priority programmes for social and economic development and environmental recovery for better local governance.
The participatory community-based development approach aims at : - enhancing capacities of local institutions in the Chernobyl region to contribute effectively to long-term recovery and development initiatives in this region. - facilitating community empowerment for self-help and collective action, breaking the pattern of traditional dependance on the state and moving towards self-government and development.Español: Reunión sobre Desarrollo Comunitario en Ivankiv, capital del distrito homónimo ucraniano, donde se debatió en relación a los esfuerzos locales para reducir los efectos del accidente nuclear de Chernóbil. Las principales orientaciones de las propuestas presentadas en esta reunión del año 2009, particularmente se enfocaron en los siguientes aspectos:
