English: Anonymous 16th century Portuguese illustration from the Códice Casanatense, depicting a Hindu ritual, in which a widow is buried alive with her dead husband. The inscription reads: "Gentile women of the caste of the cattle drivers, who is buried alive with her husband after he had died"
