Summary

Description
English: Ferrostaal Railcar
  • Ferrocarril Oriental S.A. Railcar, rebuilt and redesigned entirely by the Master Workshops of Guaracachi, located in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, based on a Ferrostaal railbus, which was already in use for several years in various passenger services. It has some interesting modifications such as the adaptation of a servo-clutch, synchronous Volvo gearbox, instruments included in the cabin panel, regulatory railway lights and its own bus lights, individual crew lights, optional in-cab air conditioning, ergonomically designed seats, etc. This unit, originally built in 1977 by Ferrostaal with a Cummins NT-855-R4 motor, is an interesting example of how to upgrade equipment with years of antiquity, leaving it practically new with a refreshing design shape and incorporating modern elements of comfort at reasonable costs.
