Summary

Description
English: Cliff edge At the cliff edge, the soil thins rapidly and exposes the curious linear limestone pavement which gives the appearance of stone railway sleepers laid in the grass. The cliffs here are over 80m high, so this was as close as I was going to the edge. The white pattern on the overhanging bed of rock in the cliff face is caused by a set of parallel faults which cut the across the rock. Sparry calcite has been precipitated in the fault planes, which have subsequently broken and exposed a set of flat, white faces on the grey rock.
