The title of his book is The MosaicOrigin of the Pentateuchal Codes. In it heundertakes to show from internal evidence thatthe Mosaic legislation is a unit, and bears theimpress of the Mosaic age. This, too, whilerigorously excluding every testimony to whichthe assailants demur. The value of his argu-ment is far-reaching because his conclusion in-volves the corollary that the codes were a revela-tion from God and not the result of develop-ment.
