Summary

Description
English: This illustration, signed "F. Beard," accompanies the preface of "Chalk Lessons, or the Black-board in the Sunday School. A Practical Guide for Superintendents and Teachers" by Frank Beard (1896). It demonstrates what Beard argues are the possibilities for enhancing teaching through the use of the "Black-board" to illustrate lesson points. A Victorian motto hangs on the wall: "Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me."
