English: Library and Archives Canada description: Céline and Rosalvina Pelletier were the daughters of a wealthy merchant in Quebec City. In this portrait, the girls wear red coral necklaces, a 19th-century practice to guard against childhood sickness. Both girls survived to adulthood: Céline married and Rosalvina became a novice with the Augustinian nuns of the General Hospital of Québec. 1 painting : oil on canvas ; 63.5 x 76.4 cm.
