Nederlands: Kaart in de Burgerzaal van het Paleis op de Dam. English: Nova Hollandia, the 17th-century name for Australia, with the tip of Tasmania on the left, called "Anthoni van Diemens Landt", or Terra Dimensis. The floor map dates to about 1665, and is the local inlay artist's impression of the world map by Joan Blaeu. This photo shows how the artist connected the dots from Australia to the Tasmania coast, ignoring the gaps in the Joan Blaeu maps of the 1650s and 1660s, that were based on the reports by Abel Tasman's voyage of 1642.
