Chinese name: 别克新世纪 (biékè xīnshìjì) Year of launch: 1999 Buick started assembling the Century/Regal from 1999 as 'New Century' after it established the joint venture with SAIC (Shanghai GM). The currently very strong presence of the Buick brand in China all started with the Regal and without the demand in the Chinese market, Buick would probably have no longer existed, similar to Oldsmobile, Pontiac and Saturn. The New Century was replaced by the Regal in 2002, which is nothing but a revamped New Century. |
