Français : Vue perspective d'un projet de place pour Louis XVI

Fin du XVIII siècle, aquarelle, gouache et plume, 32,5 x 54cm, Jallier de Savault remporte un concours d'architecture avec son projet en lieu et place du chateau. Il comporte l'édification d'une statue monumentale de Louis XVI à l'emplacement de la tour César «afin, qu'aucun bâtiment, petit ou grand, ne put entrer dans la rade, aucun mouvement se faire dans le port (...) sans que le roi les vît et y présidât en quelque sorte». En avril 1788, ce projet fut finalement jugé inconciliable avec les aménagements

prévus par la Marine.
