Summary

Description
English: Tiwanaku - Pyramid of Akapana was the largest building in the religious complex. Pottery found at the site that has been carbon dated to 1580 BC. Tiwanaku was settled by 400 AD on the Bolivian side of Lake Titicaca. The main center developed into a bustling city, constructed with many terraced platform pyramids, courts and urban centers over 2.31 sq. miles. It is thought that after 80 years of drought that the area was deserted by the leaders and aristocracy to look for a better area. It is thought that Manco Kapac and Mama Ocllo probably that last leaders of Tiwanaku culture, founded a new Empire on the Island f the Sun and continued to the northern regions and finally to the Valley of Cuzco.
