English: Bird of Life (共命鸟), playing a panpipe, Middle Tang Dynasty. Yulin Grottoes Cave 25, South Wall. A similar man-bird combo, the Jivajivaka refers to a two-headed creature; the bird here has also been called a Kalaviṅka, and appears to be related to the Kinnara, both connected by the same Buddhist traditions.
