Summary

Description
English: Belgrade Plaza development Looking towards the city centre from the top of phase 1 of the Belgrade Plaza development, the car park. Once phase 2 of the development is complete, a mix of hotel, casino and residential development will have taken over the cleared space and the flats beside it. (Work on the project was temporarily suspended at noon on 12 Mar 2008, when an unexploded WW2 bomb was unearthed. The surrounding buildings were evacuated and the bomb made safe on site at 2:40am 13 Mar 2008.) The grey monolith in the centre is the new extension to the Belgrade Theatre, which is hidden behind; the white fronted building on the right is the Town Wall Tavern; the pyramid-topped tower block is Hillman House[1] on the junction of Smithford Way and Corporation Street. Faintly visible to its right is the fleche of Coventry Cathedral, then the spires of Holy Trinity and St. Michael's (the old cathedral). The dome in the centre tops the West Orchard shopping centre.
