Summary
| Description |
English: Battle of Zsigárd (16 June 1849). The Hungarian II. corps retreat from the battlefield. On the right wing the late arrival of the Rakovszky detachment force the Austrians to halt their pursuit, while on the left flank the 56. battalion is ravaged by the attack of the Austrian cavalry, but the reinforced Bocskai battalion and the 25. Honvéd battalion repulse the attacks, and help the Kisfaludy brigade to retreat in safety. The bridges over the Vág and the Small Danube remain in Hungarian hands, enabling them to try another attack a few days later. |
