한국어: 전주성을 둘러싸고 1894년 4월 28일부터 5월 3일까지는 홍계훈이 이끄는 경군과 농민군 사이에 크고 작은 전투가 있었으며, 최대의 격전은 5월 3일 벌어졌다. 이것이 완산 전투이다. 농민군은 5월 3일 서문과 북문으로부터 돌진하여 사마교와 유연대에 진을 친 경군을 대대로 공격하였다. 농민군은 달아나는 경군을 추적하여 다가산을 점령한 후 다시 남지나여 용머리고개를 가로질러 관군의 본영이 있는 곳까지 육박하였다. 그러나 관군으로부터 집중적인 대포공격을 받아 용장 김순명과 아기 장수 이복용을 비롯하여 수 백 명의 전사자를 내고 성안으로 물러날 수 밖에 없었다. 4월 28일부터 5월 3일까지 벌어진 완산전투에서 농민군은 전력 상 커다란 손실을 입었다. |
