DescriptionBark Cabin Natural Area (1) (14417765155).jpg
Mid State Trail signpost near the Bark Cabin Natural Area, Lycoming County, within Tiadaghton State Forest.
The 7-acre natural area contains a fine stand of old-growth hemlock–white pine–hardwood forest surrounding the Ott Fork of Bark Cabin Run, a small mountain stream. Although the forest was selectively logged more than a century ago, many old-growth trees remain standing.
The orange-blazed Mid State Trail traverses part of the site. The forest immediately surrounding the trail consists largely of second-growth trees. The old-growth trees are mostly off-trail.
