EL FUERTE ES DE COLOR ROJO Y, DENTRO DEL MISMO, HAY UNA CRUZ MERCEDARIA EN HONOR A NUESTRA VIRGEN DE LA MERCED, PATRONA DE NUESTRA CIUDAD Y GENERALA DEL EJÉRCITO. ACTUALMENTE, SE ENCUENTRA UBICADA EN NUESTRA IGLESIA QUE FUE CONSTRUIDA EN EL AÑO 1737.
EL TRIÁNGULO VERDE REPRESENTA LOS CAMPOS FÉRTILES DE NUESTRA CIUDAD.
LAS FRANJAS PARALELAS EN AZUL Y BLANCO SIMBOLIZAN NUESTRA BANDERA NACIONAL. EL AZUL Y EL BLANCO POR SER COLORES HERÁLDICOS.
