Description
English: The Japan Meteorological Agency’s GMS-5 satellite captured this infrared imagery at 13:00 Coordinated Universal Time on October 20, 1998, featuring Typhoon Babs at peak intensity, approaching the Philippines. At the time, Babs had 1-minute sustained winds of 155 mph (250 km/h), and the Japanese Meteorological Agency estimated Babs' minimum central pressure at 940 millibars. Babs was 184 kilometers from land.
