Summary

Description BR (LMR) 60' "CBC" (Corridor Composite - 1st/3rd), later BR "CK" (Corridor Composite -1st/3rd until 1956 then 1st/2nd) No.24617 in 1946 LMS Lake livery (which it was too late to carry) built at Derby (Lot 1500) in 1950 to a new, but LMS inspired, design (Diagram 2159). Sometimes reffered to as an Ivatt design but what input he had is debatable. Introduced a new "bulging bottom" profile and porthole lavatory windows to LMS-type coaches. They were also the first all-steel post- war coaches which influenced BR to adopt similar construction. BR Mk.I coaches also have a number of other features of this LMS-type stock. Note "The Royal Scot" carriageboard. At Bridgnorth, Severn Valley Railway, 09/11.
