Ģerboņa simbolisms
zaļš – pagasta dabas skaistums un daudzveidība, mežu bagātība, purpurs - vietas vienreizīgums un senā izcelsme, sudrabs – pagasta upītes un ezeriņi, zelts - pārticība, veiksme, turība. Lācēna siluets - simbols Bērzaunes nosaukuma izcelsmei – ģermāniskajam Bersohn (lāča dēls).
