Description
English: After the Battle of Cover Mountain in the American Civil War, Union General William W. Averell led his force to the Virginia & Tennessee Railroad. After destroying a small segment of the rail line, he began a difficult route north in rain and mountainous terrain while pursued by Confederate forces.
