Summary

Description
English: In the 1960ies Technicon Corporation developed and sold the first automatic wet chemistry analyzer for clinical chemistry testing under the name of AutoAnalyzer I. It basically connects the individual analytical steps: taking a sample, mixing it with reagents, filtering off proteins, heating the reaction mix and finally measure the developed color in a photometer. Staions are connected with small bore tubing and the samples are moved using a peristaltic pump, quantities determined by different pump tubing bore. To separate the individual samples from each other, air bubbles are injected into the stream - thus the name: "segmented flow analysis". At the end the photometric results are recorded on chart paper.
