English: Artist Mark Divo at the Off-Space "Material" in Zurich preparing for the opening of his show "Sack for life" The slogan "Kein Sack ist illeagal" means no bag is illegal. It mimicks the slogan "Kein Mensch ist illegal", no human is illegal used by the movement for people without papers. Divo thus aludes to the fact, that in Zurich you are only allowed to use rubbish bags with a tax on it. There are rubbish inspectors with a lab, who are trying to find out who you are, if you are using an ordinary bag for your rubbish, in order to fine you. With it's anarchic irony the work is typical for Mark Divo underlined by his ironic grin.
Deutsch: Künstler Mark Divo kurz vor der Eröffnung seiner Ausstellung "Sack for life" im Zürcher Off-Space "Material". Der Slogan "Kein Sack ist illegal" persifliert die Parole "Kein Mensch ist illegal" der Bewegung für die Regularisierung von sogenannten "Sans Papier", Menschen ohne Aufenhaltsgenehmigung. Und er spielt darauf an, dass in Zürich nur offizelle, mit einer Steuer belastete Abfallsäcke benutzt werden dürfen. Andernfalls dräuen die städtischen Abfalldetektive, die Säcke durchsuchen, um Abfallsünder zu büssen. Die Arbeit ist ein typisches Beispiel für Divos anarchischen Humor, den sein ironisch-übertriebenes Grinsen unterstreicht." |
