English: Arms of Peverell of Sampford Peverell, Devon: Azure, three garbs argent a chief or (Source: Pole, Sir William (d.1635), Collections Towards a Description of the County of Devon, Sir John-William de la Pole (ed.), London, 1791, p.496) Design based on Peverell garbs sculpted on Courtenay Mantelpiece (see File:BishopBishopPeterCourtenay ChimneypieceExeterPalace SeeImpalingCourtenay.JPG), Bishop's Palace, Exeter, erected by Peter Courtenay (d.1492), Bishop of Exeter & Winchester, whose mother was Elizabeth Hungerford, daughter of Walter Hungerford, 1st Baron Hungerford, by his wife Eleanor (or Catherine) Peverell, daughter of Sir Thomas Peverell, MP, a cadet branch of Peverell of Sampford Peverell.
