English: It was taken over by the Moors who had in the 16th century been expelled from Spain and who settled in this district. It was a church, probably founded by the Dominicans in 1323-37, dedicated to St. Dominic. It burned partially several times, was restored again and widened, but remained a Gothic typical Latin church: a long hall, ending in three rectangular apses and with a bellfry (now minaret) at the east end. The wooden roof and galleries date from a restoration in 1913-19, when the original floor was uncovered and many Genoese tombstones came to light, now in the Archaeological Museum.
