Summary

Description
English: Apatite-(CaF)
Locality: Tormiq valley (Tormic; Tormik; Tormig; Turmiq), Haramosh Mts., Skardu District, Baltistan, Northern Areas, Pakistan (Locality at mindat.org)
This is one of the most remarkable "Alpine-type" Apatites that Ive seen from Pakistan. Although Pakistan is well known for its pegmatites, this specimen is from the skarn zone at Tormiq which is more well-known for Epidote. This specimen is a large stacked mound of several beautiful yellow tabular crystals with good translucency and even transparency ! The group is doubly-terminated and only has one contact where it detached from the host rock. This specimen is close to 10 years old, and the find that produced these specimens seems to have been a one time find. 6.2 x 5.5 x 5.2cm
