English: This animation shows step by step the process of dividing 998001 by 999 (result: 999) using the traditional method (帰除法, Guīchúfǎ in Chinese, Kijohō in Japanese,); that is, using the division table and the traditional division arrangement. The method requires that some columns of the abacus temporarily store values greater than 9, which is achieved with the use of extra and suspended beads. |
