Une monnaie d'une sapèque en laiton de Nguyen Quang Toan, ère Canh Thinh (1792-1802), le dernier représentant de la dynastie Tay Son. A/ Canh Thinh thong bao (Monnaie courante de l'ère Canh Thinh) R/ Vide Dimension : 24,88 mm Poids : 1,8 g. Remarque : Quang Toan avait dix ans quand il est devenu empereur. Son père, Nguyen Van Hue, était mort subitement en 1792 avant d'attaquer Nguyen Anh par terre et par mer. Ce dernier réussit à moderniser son armée avec l'aide des Français : Olivier de Puymanel construit la citadelle de Saigon en 1790 et celle de Dien Khanh en 1793 en suivant les principes de Vauban. L'armée de Nguyen Anh est entraînée à utiliser une artillerie moderne et des méthodes européennes dans le combat de l'infanterie. En 1800, la citadelle de Quy Nhon est prise par Nguyen Anh. En 1802, Thang Long est assiégée. Quang Toan réussit à s'échapper mais il est capturé et exécuté. Nguyen Anh devient l'empereur Gia Long, le premier empereur de la dynastie Nguyen.
