Herds Snap; and wasthe dam of Federal, Light Infantry,Obscurity, &c. &.c. Wyandot, ch. (the property ofMaj. Daniel Gano, of Cincinnati,Ohio,) foaled in April, 1821; was gotby Col. Piatts horse Alexander, outof his celebrated mare Honest Jane.Alexander was got by the imp. h.Bedford, out of the imp. m. Drone,&c. Honest Jane was got by theimp. h. Honest .lohn; he by Sir Pe-ter Teazle, and he by Highflyer; hisdam by imp. Pantaloon; grandam byimp. Shark: g. g. dam by Janus, &c. AMERICAN TURF REGISTER AND §©®®®isr(® mA®A^iir^.c Vol. II.) JULY, 1831. (No. 11. MEMOIR OF DIOMED. (The portraiture of Diomed, such as it is, though more highly finished,as an engraving, is faithfully copied, as to the outline and figure, from theplate in the first volume of the English Sporting Magazine; in regard towhich, the editors of that work say: No expense has been spared, andthey trust it will entitle them and the artists concerned, to the credit of nothaving performed more than they were capable of performing. In fewarts, however, have greater progress been made, since that day, 1792, thanin the fine art of engraving. We shall regret it if the figure be not foundto correspond with recollections of the horse;—it was the only copy we couldget. For the following brief description, as well as for some of the nameson the list of his get, in this country, we are indebted to J. C Goode, Esq.whose father was, at one time, his owner in part. He was a fine horse,about 15 hand
