Summary

Description
English: Alberta Slim (born Eric Charles Edward) died on November 25, 2005 at 96 years old. He was born in Wiltshire, England, and came to Canada in 1920 with his family where he settled in St. Waltberg, Saskatchewan. During the Depression, he sang on street corners and later hosted his own radio show with CKCK radio in Regina, Saskatchewan. His unique singing style earned him the name “Canada’s Yodeling Cowboy”, and the inspiration for his songs came from his love for Canada. Alberta Slim was active until 2003 appearing at numerous folk festivals in Whitehorse, Llyodminster, and Canso, Nova Scotia. He also operated the Bar-X Enterprises until early 2004 when he suffered a stroke. Slim’s passing was mourned by admirers who valued his unique Canadian voice.
