Summary

Description

1974 would be the second time in Alberta history that two different colors of Alberta plates would be on the road. Late in 1974 the province ran out of 1973 baseplates so some auto plates were issued in this series, X restricted, the small "X" on the right designating this type. The 1973 passenger plates would be revalidated with a blue on white "74" sticker.

All other types of 1974 dated plates would be used on non-passenger and commercial vehicles.

This was the last year Alberta made plates with beaded reflectorization.
